The 'Senior Jazz Band of Minnesota' Inc.  under the direction of Robert 'Pops' Montgomery, has been active in the West Saint Paul communities, and the greater Twin Cities communities since early March 2008.

In April 2009, the first 'Senior Jazz Band of Minnesota' anniversary and awards presentation was held

in West Saint Paul, Minnesota.

The prestigious 'POPS' MONTGOMERY' Award was awarded to 90 year old saxophonist, Irv Williams (in absentia) for his lifetime contributions and generous musical gifts to Minnesota Arts and to the Twin Cities. The April 2009 anniversary celebration/awards and  the June 4, 2009 "LIVE" Concert tribute will be long remembered by jazz lovers from many communities.
